DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Sarah Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) won a pair of events to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s indoor track and field team to a first-place finish in a tri-meet at the newly renovated Paul Sweet Oval on Saturday afternoon.
With 92 points, the Wildcats bested the College of the Holy Cross (73) and Quinnipiac University (9).
Hall won the 55 meters in 7.45 seconds and was also victorious in the 200 meters in a time of 27.13 seconds. Sophomore Kaitlin Kwiecien (Hampstead, N.H.) and freshman Jacky Mendes (Dayton, Maine) were second and third, respectively, in the 200 in times of 27.56 and 27.73 seconds.
Kwiecien also won an event of her own, finishing first in the 400 meters in a time of one minute, 1.04 seconds. Freshman Courtney Prescott (Hollis, N.H.) was third in 1:01.56.
On the field side of things, junior Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) was a winner in the weight throw. Lathrop recorded an ECAC Championship-qualifying toss of 53 feet, 9.75 inches. Lathrop was also fourth in the shot put with a throw of 35-7.25. Senior Erica Desroches (Stratham, N.H.) finished ahead of her in second with a toss of 39-9.25.
Junior Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) won the pole vault, clearing a height of 12-5.50.
Sophomore Camille Quarles (Derry, N.H.) submitted a first-place finish in the long jump, recording a leap of 17-6. Freshman Eliza Mackintosh (Hanover, N.H.) and sophomore Meghan McGrath (Merrimack, N.H.) were second and third, respectively, with jumps of 16-10.50 and 16-7.75.
In the triple jump, Mackintosh and Quarles finished 1-2 with leaps of 36-3.50 and 36-3, respectively. Junior Esperance Ndombe (Manchester, N.H.) was third at 35-10.
In the high jump, freshman Kimberly Allen (Townsend, Mass.) finished first, using fewer attempts than Mendes to post the same leap of 5-1.
The Wildcats won the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:05.98. They were second in the 4x800 at 9:42.10.
Junior Tayla Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) placed second in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.70 seconds.
Freshman Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) came in second in the 1,000 meters in 3:05.35.
Sophomore Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) was second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:17.07.
Sophomore Catherine Perella (Bedford, N.H.) and junior Tracy Howell (Grafton, Mass.) placed second and third, respectively, in the 500 meters with times of 1:21.64 and 1:22.11.
Sophomores Emily Nardone (Stoneham, Mass.) and Jennifer Racine (Haverhill, Mass.) finished second and third, respectively in the 900 meters in times of 2:25.40 and 2:26.64.
In the mile, freshman Elizabeth Campbell (Colonia, N.J.) and sophomore Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) finished second and fourth, respectively, with times of 5:12.86 and 5:17.95.
The Wildcats return to action Friday, January 23 at 4 p.m. at the Terrier Classic at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center.
