WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT VALENTINE INVITE

 

 
BOSTON – Sophomore Camille Quarles (Derry, N.H.) posted a pair of top-ten finishes and juniors Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) and Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) each turned in second-place finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s indoor track and field team at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center.
 
Quarles placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.40 meters. Sophomore Meghan McGrath (Merrimack, N.H.) and freshman Eliza Mackintosh (Hanover, N.H.) were 17th and 23rd, respectively, at 5.10 and 5.03 meters. Quarles was also sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.48 meters. Mackintosh finished seventh at 11.40 meters.
 
Ciambra came in second in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.80 meters.
 
Lathrop finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 17.46 meters. Seniors Erica Desroches (Stratham, N.H.) and Amy Malsbenden (Bow, N.H.) were 18th and 19th, respectively, with throws of 13.88 and 13.86 meters.
 
Junior Sarah Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) placed 11th in the 55 meters in 7.38 seconds. Hall also finished 23rd in the 200 meters in 25.65 seconds. Junior Tayla Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) was 59th in 26.63 seconds, while McGrath crossed the line in 77th at 26.85 seconds.
 
In the shot put, seniors Sarah Crane (Londonderry, N.H.) and Desroches placed 12th and 16th, respectively, with throws of 12.04 and 11.79 meters
 
Sophomores Megan Donohue (Stratham, N.H.) and Chelsey Canavan (Stoneham, Mass.) finished 13th and 14th, respectively in the 400 meters in times of 57.67 and 57.92 seconds. Freshman Courtney Prescott (Hollis, N.H.) was 41st in one minute, 0.12 seconds.
 
Sophomore Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) placed 17th in the mile in 4:59.67. Freshmen Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) and Elizabeth Campbell (Colonia, N.J.) were 32nd and 41st, respectively, in times of 5:08.73 and 5:13.13.
 
In the 500 meters, junior Tracy Howell (Grafton, Mass.) and sophomore Emily Nardone (Stoneham, Mass.) finished 19th and 25th, respectively, in times of 1:19.14 and 1:19.78.
 
Sophomore Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) came in 40th in the 800 meters in a time of 2:18.63. Fellow sophomore Jennifer Racine (Haverhill, Mass.) was 68th in 2:22.16.
 
Senior Carolyn Durfee  (Laconia, N.H.) placed 52nd in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:41.19.
 
The Wildcats return to action Feb. 20-21 at the America East championships at the Track and Tennis Center.
