BOSTON – Junior Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) broke a school record and sophomore Camille Quarles (Derry, N.H.) recorded a pair of top-five finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s indoor track and field team at the Terrier Classic on Friday at the Track and Tennis Center.   

Lathrop placed sixth in the weight throw, breaking the school record she set last month with a toss of 55 feet, 3.75 inches.   

Quarles finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 17-6.25. Fellow sophomore Meghan McGrath (Merrimack, N.H.) was ninth at 17-1.50. Quarles also posted a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 37-6.50. Junior Esperence Ndombe (Manchester, N.H.) and freshman Eliza Mackintosh (Hanover, N.H.) placed ninth and 13th, respectively, with leaps of 36-2.75 and 35-7.75.

Junior Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) had UNH’s top finish of the day, a third-place showing in the pole vault. Ciambra cleared a height of 11-11.75.

Senior Erica Desroches (Stratham, N.H.) placed 14th in the shot put with a throw of 38-11.

Sophomore Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) finished 15th in the 5,000 meters in a New England Championship-qualifying time of 17 minutes, 39.78 seconds.

In the mile, sophomore Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) placed 15th in 5:05.83, while senior Elizabeth Morrissey (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) was 28th at 5:11.45.

Sophomore Kaitlin Kwiecien (Hampstead, N.H.) finished 16th in the 500 meters in a time of 1:16.79.

Freshman Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) was 18th in the 1,000 meters, finishing in a time of 2:58.41.

In a large 200-meter field, senior Sarah Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) placed 30th in 25.89 seconds. 

In the 800 meters, sophomores Catherine Perella (Bedford, N.H.) and Emily Nardone (Stoneham, Mass.) finished 28th and 36th, respectively, in times of 2:21.26 and 2:23.07.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Harvard Invitational at the Gordon Track Center.
