BOSTON- The 4x800 relay team of Katie Litwinowich (Holden, Mass.), Lesley Read (Dover, N.H.), Leighann Carpenter (Princeton, Mass.) and Kristen Meisner (Nashua, N.H.) set a new school record at the ECAC Championships last weekend, as the four runners notched a preliminary qualifying time of 8 minutes, 57.31 seconds in the event. Their time shattered the old mark (9:02.64) by more than five seconds set just last year by Amy DeCamp, Meisner, Carpenter and Read.

Following their school-record-setting time in the prelims, the 4x800 relay squad then continued their success in the finals of the event, notching second place points with a time of 8:58.22. The 'Cats were bested by only Seton Hall, the meet's champions, who came in less than a half second in front of UNH (8:57.67).

The second place finish in the 4x800 comes on the heels of a first place finish at the New England Championships where the 'Cats successfully defended their title, crossing the line in 9:14.09.

The women's distance medley relay squad also ran well for the 'Cats, as Michelle Zitta (East Swanzey, N.H.), Amy Czesnowski (Branford, Conn.), Chelsea Corr (East Greenbush, N.Y.) and Megan Hepp (Milton, Vt.) finished in 11th place, crossing the line in 11:56.75.

As a team, the 'Cats finished in 29th place at the 48-team meet.

The Wildcat track teams return to action on March 29 when they open their outdoor season hosting the Wildcat Relays at the Reggie Atkins Track Facility in Durham.
