Women’s Track and Field Competes at Day 2 of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The University of New Hampshire women's track and field team competed in day two of the 118th annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.

Senior Rosemary Read (West Greenwich, R.I.) started off the day for the Wildcats in the hammer throw event. Read measured a throw of 173 feet and 11 inches to take the fifth spot.

High jumper Jessica Salley (Andover, Mass.) followed with a 13th place finish in the high jump. The senior measured a jump of 5-04.50 feet at the meet.

A pair of Wildcats also competed in the 10,000-meter championships, with senior Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) and junior Chelsey Serrano (Rowley, Mass.) running the event. Serrano took 15th place with a personal-best time of 35:23.46, while Beattie placed 19th in 35:37.19.

The UNH also got a 16th-place finish from its distance medley relay squad. The DMR team of freshman Amanda Szymanski (Londonderry, N.H.), sophomore Lauren Perrodin (Coral Springs, Fla.), junior Anne Twombly (Exeter, N.H.), and freshman Sarah Keiran (Rowley, Mass.) scored a time of 12:02.80 to take 16th.
