Women's Track & Field Takes Eighth Place at New England Championships
EASTON, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire women's track and field team took eighth place at the New England Championships after recording 38 points. The event was held at Stonehill College.
Anne Twombly (Exeter, N.H.) secured 10 points with a first-place finish in the 1,500 meter run. She broke the tape with a time of 4:29.44. Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) garnered an additional eight points for New Hampshire when she finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. She came in with a time of 10:36.65. Samantha Blais finished the same event in eighth place, breaking the plane with a time of 11:01.07.
In the 4x800 relay, Madeline Allen (Lennox, Mass.), Julia Credendino (Islip, N.Y.), Twombly and Cassie Kruse (Hampshire, Ill.) took fourth place in the event. The team ran to a time of 9:09.88. Jessica Salley (Andover, Mass.) finished with a bronze medal performance in the high jump. She cleared a height of 1.65 meters.
Stephanie Walsh (Penacook, N.H.) finished tied for seventh place in the discus after hitting a mark of 38.37.
At the ECAC Championships, Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) set a new school record in the 5,000 meter run as she crossed the line with a time of 16 minutes and 27 seconds. Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) finished the event in eighth place.
