CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Jenni Roberts (Springvale, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women's swimming & diving team has been tabbed America East Swimmer of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference.
Roberts garners her second conference weekly honor this season and fifth as a Wildcat.
The senior placed first in two events and tallied a pair of second place . In spite of that, the 'Cats were defeated 156.5-143.5 by the Yale University Bulldogs at Swasey Pool on Friday, Jan. 24.
Roberts was the first leg of the winning quartet in the 400-yard medley relay as the group compiled a pool-best time of 3 minutes, 50.30 seconds. In addition, Roberts highlighted the 200-yard IM as part of a 1-2-3 sweep to clock in at 2:03.07, a pool-best. Furthermore, her improved mark ranks the senior 180th in the nation.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Roberts topped her own pool record with a time of 1:50.75, an America East-best. However, she was edged out by three milliseconds to finish in second place. The senior also tallied a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly to match the conference-best time with a time of 56.05.
The senior currently holds the top America East times in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke (56.25) Furthermore, she is a member of the 400-yard medley relay team with a mark of 3:49.81 to lead the conference.
