SOMERS, Wis. – Freshman swimmer Katie Mann (Prince George, B.C.) was tabbed as a Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention honoree Friday afternoon by CollegeSwimming.com. She was just one of three female swimmers from the America East conference to earn the distinction.
Mann played a vital role in the success of the Wildcats this past season. She swam to 11 solo first-place finishes while breaking two conference records and a pool record at Siena (10/15). She also was named America East Women's Rookie of the Year and garnered the America East Most Outstanding Swimmer Award for 2011.
Last month, Mann finished competing in the Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials, swimming in four events. In those four events, she tallied new personal-best marks as well as new records for her Prince George club team. She barely missed the finals of the 200-meter breaststroke event after finishing with a time of 2:36.17, just .8 seconds off the mark.
