CAMBRIDGE, MASS.- The America East conference announced Tuesday afternoon that Jessie Ellisalcaide (Harpswell, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team had been named America East Women’s Swimming Performer of the Week for her performance against Central Connecticut this past weekend.
Ellisalcaide finished first in three events and led off the Wildcats top-place 200-yard freestyle relay to lead the Wildcats to a 171-128 victory over Central Connecticut.
In the 50-yard freestyle, she touched in first at 24.19, a time which ranks her first in the America East in that event. Ellisalcaide then touched in with a time of 53.48 in the 100-yard free.
In a close race, Ellisalcaide garnered her third first-place finish of the afternoon in the 100-yard butterfly by touching in at 59.20, just .15 seconds ahead of Central Connecticut.
The graduate student also got the Wildcats off to a quick start with a 24.73 lead-off split in the Wildcats 200 free relay, which finished more than five seconds ahead of their competition at 1:41.46.
Ellisalcaide and rest of the Wildcats will return to action when they take part in the Boston University Invitational, which will take place Friday, Nov. 21-Sunday, Nov. 23.
