UNH Swimmer Shannon Daly Earns America East Honors

BOSTON - For the second week in a row, Shannon Daly (Brightwaters, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire was named the America East Women's Swimming Performer of the Week. The conference announced the award Tuesday, Nov. 16.

On Saturday, Daly broke Colgate's pool record in the 1000-yard freestyle by clocking in at 10 minutes 24.51 seconds. She also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.59 and was a member of the winning 400 medley relay team. The Wildcats defeated Colgate 186.5 - 113.5.

Sunday in Binghamton, she set another pool record, this time in the 500-yard freestyle. She finished in 5:04.37 and broke the record of 5:05.59 she originally set two years ago. Daly also won the 200 free (1:54.58) and had the fastest time in an exhibition swim of the 100 breaststroke (1:06.10). Her strong performance helped New Hampshire win the meet 154-82 and stay undefeated on the season at 4-0.

The Wildcats visit the University of Massachusetts on Saturday, Nov. 20. Meet time is 1 p.m.
