BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell to Central Connecticut State University on Sunday by a score of 1-0 at the University of Vermont's Virtue Field.
The Wildcats even their record to 1-1-0 on the season in the non-conference contest in the final game of the TD Bank Classic. The Blue Devils now stand with a 1-1-0 mark on the year.
Sophomore Morgan Smith (Canton, Conn.) led the team with a total of three shots and one on net.
The 'Cats posted a total of seven shots with two on target. Sophomore netminder Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) made four saves in 90 minutes of action taking the loss and now holds a record of 1-1-0 on the season.
At the half, it was a scoreless game. Each team posted a total of five shots in the first half.
The Blue Devils scored the lone goal of the game at 56:12 as the offense carried the ball along the end line and Tori Sousa fed Alyssa Christo, who used a second effort to score the goal past Borkan.
Senior defender Hannah Blondin (East Hampton, Conn.), freshman forward Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) and senior midfielder Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) were named to the All-Tournament Team at the TD Bank Classic.
Up next, UNH will have its home opener at Bremner Field under the lights against the College of the Holy Cross on Thursday, Aug. 28 (7 p.m.).
