Women’s Soccer Welcomes Albany for Afternoon Tilt Thursday, Oct. 3 (3:30 p.m.)
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team welcomes the University at Albany for the second America East Conference match of the season Thursday, Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. at Cowell Stadium. Links to live stats and video will be available at www.UNHWildcats.com.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE 'CATS: New Hampshire (2-5-3, 0-0-1 AE) and Binghamton University played to a 0-0 draw on Sept. 29 at Bremner Field in the conference opener. Senior Colleen Murray (Bedford, N.H.) paced the Wildcats in the shots category with three while classmate Kristi Zarrilli (Gorham, Maine) notched two.
Freshman goalkeeper Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) extended her shutout streak to 259:53 as she made seven saves to earn her second consecutive shutout.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: Kirsten O'Neil leads the Wildcats in points with three. She has one goal and one assist and also has 20 shots. Juniors Jordan Logue (Walpole, Mass.) and Jenna Shaddock (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and Sloan each have a pair of points on a goal. Sophomore Kennedy Nickerson (Niantic, Conn.) also has a pair of points on two assists. Senior Kelsi O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) rounds out the points with an assist.
Borkan has started four of the six games she has played. She comes in with a record of 1-2-1 with a shutout, a goals against average of 0.81 and a save percentage of .878. Senior Erica Correa (Cheshire, Conn.) has started all five games she has played and has a record of 1-3-1 with a shutout, a goals against average of 1.77 and a save percentage of .714.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE GREAT DANES: Albany (1-9-0, 0-1-0 AE) fell in its conference opener against Hartford by a score of 3-1 on Sept. 29. Caitlyn Paltsios gave the Great Danes a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of play, but Hartford mounted a three-goal comeback in the second half to secure the win. Albany goalie Jackie Ubert made three saves on the six shots she faced. Hartford held a 17-10 advantage in shots.
SCOUTING ALBANY: Alexa Schneider, Helena Olafsdottir and Stephanie Nelle each have four points on the season as they lead the squad on offense. Schneider has a pair of goals while Olafsdottir and Nelle each have a goal and two assists. Aubry VanGorder and Anna Seneta each have a goal and an assist for three points.
Alana Brennan has seen the most time in net for Albany as she has started all five games she has played. She holds a record of 0-5-0, a goals against average of 3.96 and a save percentage of .604. Dani Britt has started each of the three games she has seen action and posts a 1-2-0 record with a shutout. She has a 3.00 goals against average and a .526 save percentage. Ulbert has made two starts in three appearances and has a 0-2-0 record, a 1.82 goals against average and a .789 save percentage.
