Women's Soccer Outlasted by Oregon State, 4-0
EUGENE, Ore. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell to Oregon State University, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in the squad's final game of the Nike Tournament hosted by the University of Oregon at Pape' Field.
Oregon State got on the board in the 28th minute when a ball was crossed into the box and Erin Uchacz tracked it down and sent it into the back of the net to push the Beavers ahead 1-0.
Oregon State was at it again about 10 minutes later when Chelsea Buckland slid a ball towards the box and Jessica Niewoehner fired it into the net past Erica Correa (Cheshire, Conn.), giving the Beavers a 2-0 edge going into the second half.
Scoring was at a lull for both teams at the beginning of the second stanza, but the Beavers added another score in the 64th minute when Haley Shaw pushed her team ahead, 3-0. Jenna Richardson set up the play when she delivered a pass to Shaw, who sent the ball into the low corner of the net for her second goal of the season.
Just minutes later, Oregon State extended its lead when Jacy Drobney scored to put the Beavers up 4-0. Shaw ignited the play, placing a ball in the box to Drobney, who put it into the back of the net at 65:09.
The Beavers outshot the Wildcats 19-2 in the contest, while also claiming the edge in corner kicks by a 6-1 margin.
The Wildcats return to action Friday, Sept. 9 (7 p.m.) when they take on the University of Rhode Island at the URI Soccer Complex.
