New Hampshire women's soccer falls to Richmond, 4-1

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The University of Richmond women's soccer team netted four consecutive goals to upend the University of New Hampshire, 4-1, in Sunday afternoon's second-round action of the James Madison/Comfort Inn Invitational Tournament.

UNH (1-3-0) took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute when Chiara Best (Rose Valley, Pa.) capitalized on a defensive miscue by Richmond.

The Spiders (1-0-1) took a 2-1 lead by halftime on goals by Liana Wooten at 27:25 and Whitney Sikes at 31:56. Brooke Biswanger scored 3:20 into the second half to extend the advantage to 3-1, then Wooten netted her second tally of the match with 6:52 remaining to close the scoring.

UNH goalkeeper Liz MacKay (Scituate, Mass.) recorded 10 saves. UR goalie Megan Cox stopped three shots.

Debbie Newman (Ashford, Conn.) and Jackie Wishoski (Malden, Mass.) of UNH were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

UNH returns to action Sept. 10 vs. the University of Massachusetts in what will be the first outdoor night game on the campus of the University of New Hampshire. Match time at Bremner Field is 7 p.m.
