UNH Women's Soccer Wins Fourth Straight

STORRS, Conn. - Sophomore Angeline Alexakos (Bedford, N.H.) scored the game winning goal one minute and seven seconds into overtime, lifting the University of New Hampshire over Ohio University 1-0, Saturday. The game was part of a tournament being held at the University of Connecticut.

The game was a defensive battle with both teams combining for eight total shots. Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Springer (Solana Beach, Calif.) needed only one save to pick up her fourth victory. The Ohio goalie had no saves.

The win improved the Wildcats' record to 4-1 overall and was their fourth in a row. The 'Cats only loss came in their first game, a double overtime loss to St. John's University. Since then, UNH has allowed two goals in four games, including back-to-back shutouts in the last two games.

Springer has played every minute in goal this season and has tallied 29 saves while maintaining a goals against average of 0.75.

UNH plays West Virginia tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. to complete the tourney. UNH then returns home to host Boston University on Friday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. It will be UNH's first America East game.
