UNH Athletics Raises 398 Pounds of Food and Non-Perishable Donations for the Holidays
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire athletic department held its annual food drive at various athletic events in time for the holiday season.
The Wildcats collected non-perishable and canned items during football, men’s ice hockey, women’s ice hockey, men’s basketball and women’s basketball events between Thursday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 9. Over the three days, fans and members of the UNH community donated 398 pounds of goods.
UNH worked in conjunction with the New Hampshire Food Bank to gather and distribute to local pantries across the state.
As the only food bank in the state, the New Hampshire Food Bank is the main distributor and supplier to the hunger relief agencies that serve meals and provide groceries. On average, food pantries receive 40 percent of their food from the organization.
