Nordic Skiing Continues Community Service Tradition with Garrison Elementary School

DOVER, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men’s & women’s Nordic ski team volunteered in its annual community service project with the Garrison Elementary School on Sunday, Nov. 3.

This year, members of UNH skiing and coaching staff raked leaves, cleaned up trash and disposed yard waste at the school.

“The Nordic ski team has been working with Garrison Elementary for almost 20 years where every fall we work on a project,” said ski coordinator and nordic head coach Cory Schwartz. “In years past, this has included fixing their playground, clearing brush and raking the school’s lawns.”

“We try to incorporate a workout with our local community service project so the team roller skis to the school, has a pancake breakfast and then proceeds to the school to work on the project. The team enjoys working with the local community and we look forward to next year’s project,” stated Schwartz.
