WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Freshman defender Megan Armstrong (Edina, Minn.) was tabbed as the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week while the team was named the WHEA Team of the Week after upsetting fifth-ranked Boston University on Friday 4-2 and playing to a 2-2 draw at Providence on Sunday.
Armstrong played a pivotal role in Friday's win over the Terriers as she tallied a pair of assists, her first two points of the season. She aided on the first goal of the game in the first period by Alexis Crossley (Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia) and again on the next goal as Arielle O'Neill (St. Catherines, Ontario) notched a power play tally. In Sunday's game at Providence, Armstrong tallied her first career goal at 9:56 of the second period on a power play.
The Wildcats were 1-1-1 and 1-0-1 in Hockey East play on the week. The team tallied 11 points (4g, 7a) and allowed only two goals against a Boston University who was averaging 3.70 goals and 10 points per game. At Providence, Armstrong tallied a power play goal while O'Neill notched a shorthanded goal while keeping the Friars at 0-for-4 on the power play. The team tallied 61 shots in the two games and tied their season high mark in the category at Providence (38).
New Hampshire returns to action Saturday, Nov. 17 when it travels to the University of Maine for one game. Puck drop is set for 12 p.m.
