PRINCETON, N.J. - In the 17 years that Princeton and New Hampshire have been facing off in women's ice hockey, Princeton has come out of top only twice. That was before tonight. With the help of Nikola Holmes' (Fr., Apple Valley, Minn.) two goals and Abbey Fox's (Jr., Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) three assists, Princeton (9-7-4 overall; 7-6-2 ECAC) tallied its third win in 35 tries against a New Hampshire (18-7-0, 11-5-0 ECAC), who came into tonight's game ranked second in the country.
Princeton drew first blood when Holmes scored her first goal of the game at the 16:09 mark of the first period. Fox had the lone assist. Andrea Kilbourne (So., Saranac Lake, N.Y.) gave Princeton a 2-0 lead with a power-play tally 6:45 into the second period.
New Hampshire came back to tie the game at two apiece on goals by Sabrina Monsen and Marybeth Marren. Holmes gave Princeton the lead for good at the 13:46 mark of the second stanza with a power-play goal of her own. Sarah Brownlee (Fr. Minneapolis, Minn.) added all the insurance Princeton would need.
Sarah Ahlquist (Fr., South St. Paul, Minn.) made 26 saves.
