Women’s Basketball Inks Fifth Student-Athlete for 2014-15 Season
DURHAM, N.H. -- Head coach Maureen Magarity of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team is pleased to announce the addition of incoming freshman Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) for the 2014-15 season.
Pogue, a 6-foot-2 center, led Princeton High School to a Ohio Division I state championship under head coach Jill Phillips last season.
The First Team All-District, All-Conference and All-Tournament selection is the program's leading shot blocker. Around the rim, Pogue averaged 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game last season. Furthermore, she was tabbed to the high school's Honor Roll as well as received the Student Merit Award.
"We are excited to have Carlie join our program," said Magarity. "Her ability to rebound the basketball as well as her shot blocking prowess will have an immediate impact to the team."
Pogue joins four other newcomers to the team for the upcoming 2014-15 campaign. The quintet joins the Wildcat squad coming off back-to-back appearances in the America East semifinals. UNH finished the 2013-14 season with a 19-12 overall record and 12-4 in conference play, the most wins in a single season since the 1998-99 season (19-8, 13-5 AE).
