Women's Basketball Announces Legends Golf Outing (May 17)
DURHAM, N.H. – The 2013 Wildcat Legends Golf Outing, which is a fundraiser for the University of New Hampshire women's basketball program, will be held Friday, May 17 at Breakfast Hill Golf Club in Greenland, N.H. Karen Bolton '80 is the 2013 Legend who will be honored at the event.
The day will begin with 7:30 a.m. registration, followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start and 2 p.m. luncheon. There will also be a raffle and silent auction. The cost of $125 includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch and a tee gift. There is also a lunch only option of $40.
Bolton was a four-year letterwinner who captained the 1979-80 team as a senior. She led the Wildcats in rebounding as a sophomore (9.3 per game), junior (10.0 per game) and senior (8.0 per game) and finished her career with 552 rebounds, which ranked No. 1 on the program leaderboard at the time (and is currently No. 14).
Bolton also led UNH in free throw percentage in the 1979 (.765) and 1980 (.857) seasons. As a senior, she was atop the team leaderboard in field goal percentage (.451) and ranked third in scoring (10.6 ppg). Bolton was the team's top rebounder in six games that season and that included an 18-rebound effort against UConn.
Bolton's other collegiate highlights included a pair of 21-rebound performances as a sophomore – she also netted 19 points in that game vs. Maine and 11 points against Keene – and eight double-doubles as a junior in which Bolton twice pulled down 18 rebounds.
