DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire women's basketball alum Denise Beliveau '12 (Framingham, Mass.) has completed 11 weeks of competition with the Rhein-Main Baskets of the DBBL-1 league in Germany.
Beliveau ranks No. 8 in the league in points (168) and is averaging 15.3 ppg for Rhein-Main, which is the highest scoring squad with a 4-7 record in the 12-team league. She is also fourth in steals (25; 2.3 per game) and 13th in rebounds (69; 6.3 rpg).
Beliveau has been the Rhein-Main Baskets' top scorer each of the last three games. Most recently (Dec. 16), she tallied 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. One week earlier in the team's 79-70 victory, Beliveau recorded a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds as well as three steals. In the last November game – a 71-69 win – Beliveau finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Back on Oct. 22, Beliveau led the Baskets to an 81-80 win with a team-high 23 points. One game earlier, she scored 22 points in an 81-74 victory.
Beliveau, who was in attendance at UNH's Lundholm Gym for the team's 77-54 victory against Wagner College on Dec. 17, was one of the top all-around players in New Hampshire women's basketball history. On the Wildcats' career leaderboard, she ranks sixth in scoring (1,365 points), fourth in rebounds (843), fifth in 3-pointers (141), third in steals (202) and 18th in assists (202).
Last year as a senior, Beliveau led UNH in points, rebounds, field goals made and attempted, free throws made, steals and minutes; in addition, she ranked second in both field goal percentage and free throw percentage as well as third in 3-point field goal percentage and assists.
During the season, she was the top 'Cat in scoring 15 times and in rebounds 22 times – she led the team in both statistics 13 times – and also led UNH in steals 16 of 30 games.
Beliveau's 2012 accolades included Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Second Team, America East All-Conference First Team, All-Defensive Team, All-Academic Team and the league's Player of the Game Award.
She was named the Team MVP for the second consecutive year in 2012. Furthermore, she was named a 2012 Jim Urquhart Student-Athlete of the Year for excellence in both athletic competition and academics as well as possessing great character, sportsmanship and a passion for sports.
