CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - University of New Hampshire women's basketball junior forward Denise Beliveau was named the 2011 America East Player of the Game, the conference announced Tuesday.
Beliveau, who ranks second in rebounding (8.9 rpg) and seventh in scoring (13.1 ppg) in the league, received the most Player of the Game honors during the season to garner the end-of-year award. She earned the award 10 times this season, including seven of the past eight contests.
The Player of the Game award is determined by tabulating award winners from conference play, as a player was named Player of the Game for each team at the conclusion of every contest.
The league's annual awards, including the all-conference teams, as well as Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year, will be announced at the championship awards banquet on Thursday, March 4 at 12 p.m. in Hartford, site of the 2011 America East Men's & Women's Basketball Championship Presented By Newman's Own.
Beliveau and the sixth-seeded Wildcats will take on third-seeded Binghamton University in the quarterfinals of the 2011 America East Basketball Championship presented by Newman's Own at the University of Hartford's Chase Family Arena on Friday, March 4 (2:15 p.m.).
