CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman guard Kelsey Hogan (Nashua, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team, was honored as Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season by the America East Conference Monday afternoon.
Hogan finished the week averaging 7.0 points, 5.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. She also shot .385 (5-for-13) from the floor and .429 (3-for-7) from beyond the three-point arc.
The red-shirt freshman point guard led New Hampshire to a 57-40 victory over the University of Maine (Feb. 23), dishing out seven assists while also contributing four points, three rebounds and two steals. Later in the week she posted 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field against the University of Hartford (Feb. 26), with all three field goals coming from long-distance. She rounded out the contest with four assists and two rebounds.
Hogan finished the regular season with an average of 8.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game. Her three-point percentage (.429; 42-98) ranks first in the conference, while her assist total (117) ranks second. In total, she has scored in double-figures in nine contests this year, while also leading the team in assists in five straight games.
Hogan and the sixth-seeded Wildcats will take on third-seeded Binghamton University in the quarterfinals of the 2011 America East Basketball Championship presented by Newman's Own at the University of Hartford's Chase Family Arena on Friday, March 4 (2:15 p.m.).
