Men’s Cross Country Takes 15th at New England Championships


BOSTON, Mass. -- The University of New Hampshire men's cross country squad took 15th of 41 teams at the New England Championships Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The team recorded 444 points in the event.

Sam Gagnon (Hooksett, N.H.) led the Wildcats with a 17th place finish overall out of a total of 135 runners. He recorded a time of 25:06 through the 8K course. Brendan McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) finished in the 42nd spot as he ran to a time of 25:44.

Freshman Ryan Chiesa (Stockholm, N.J.) took 53rd in the event with a time of 25:54 while John Corona (Middletown, Conn.) came in 75th with a result of 26:19. Robert Biro (Rockaway, N.J.) finished 85th overall as Louis Saviano (Sandown, N.H.) finished 100th.

The team will take two weeks between competitions as they will travel to Stanley Park in New Britain, Conn.) for the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet. The race kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
