DURHAM, N.H. – Granite State native Sam Gagnon (Hooksett, N.H.) paced his way to a fourth-place finish for the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team as the Wildcats took second overall in a tri-meet with Providence and Holy Cross.
Gagnon ran his way to a time of 18:19 to cross the finish line in fourth as Providence took the top three spots. John Prizzi (Wyckoff, N.J.) came in eighth overall with a result of 18:40 as teammate Kent Harlow (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) ran next to him, finishing with the same result. Zachary Chabot (Manchester, N.H.) was hot on their heels as he came in 10th with a time of 18:44.
Jeremy Wildgoose (Woodstock, Conn.), Luke Miller (Birdsboro, Pa.), Jeffrey Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) and Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) finished 14th through 17th. Wildgoose posted a time of 18:53 while Miller finished at 18:57. Moretti crossed the line with a time of 19:00 and Greene finished at 19:04. Nathaniel Hathaway (Scarborough, Maine) finished 19th (19:11) while Brendan McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) posted a 20th place finish (19:17).
The team returns to action Friday, Sept. 20 as it travels to the University of Maine for a dual meet with the Black Bears. The men are set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
