CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON – Senior Alex Beaulieu (Merrimack, N.H.) finished 53rd overall as the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team placed 27th at the 47-team New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

Beaulieu finished the nearly five-mile course in a time of 25 minutes, 43 seconds.

Freshman Joseph Jourdain (Hudson, N.H.) and senior Andrew Dionne (Westerly, R.I.) placed 83rd and 119th, respectively, in times of 26:02 and 26:19.

Sophomores Michael Ryan (Dallas, Pa.) and Patrick Taft (Hanson, Mass.) rounded out the Wildcat scorers as they placed 170th and 180th, respectively, in the 318-runner field in times of 26:47 and 26:54.

The women's squad did not field a team at the meet, but had one runner, senior Katherine Chwasciak (Webster, N.H.), compete on the five-kilometer course. Chwasciak finished 171st in the 322-runner field in a time of 20:02.

The women return to action Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Albany Invitational at the University at Albany. The men's squad, which rested its top runners, returns to action Saturday, Oct. 30 at the America East Championships at Franklin park.
