DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Scott McGrath (Peterborough, N.H.) and junior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) finished third and fifth, respectively, to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s cross country team to Saturday afternoon’s second-place showing at the season-opening quad meet with Providence College, Boston College and Georgia State College at the College Woods course.

McGrath ran the course in a time of 25 minutes, 39 seconds, while Dinnan finished in 25:54.

The Wildcats finished with 36 points, behind Providence (23), but ahead of Boston College (68) and Georgia State College (130).

Seniors Matt O’Connor (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) and Brent Powers (Remsen, N.Y.) also finished in the top 10 for the Wildcats, placing eighth and ninth, respectively. O’Connor crossed the finish line at 26:09, while Powers followed at 26:14. Senior Nick Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) finished 11th in a time of 26:21.

Seniors Marc Ouellette (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Dylan McGuffin (Northfield, N.H.), and junior Wesley Moseman (Remsen, N.Y.) placed inside the top 20 at 16th, 18th and 19th, respectively. Ouellette finished in 26:52, with McGuffin and Moseman separated by just one second at 27:05 and 27:06.

The Wildcats return to action Friday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. when they take on the University of Maine at the Maine Cross Country Course.
