WORCESTER, Mass. – Seniors Spencer Shaw (Hampton, N.H.) and Brent Powers (Remsen, N.Y.) were two of the six Wildcats to win an event as the University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track & field team competed as one of five squads at Holy Cross’ Hart Track on Wednesday afternoon.

Shaw won the long jump with a mark of 6.67 meters, while junior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) was right behind in second place with a leap of 6.53 meters.

Powers was victorious in the 5000 meters as he finished in a time of 15 minutes, 8.34 seconds. Freshman Alex Beaulieu (Merrimack, N.H.) and junior Wesley Moseman (Remsen, N.Y.) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 15:36.78 and 15:40.07.

Junior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) was the top finisher in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:01.59, while sophomore Jacob McDougle (Walpole, N.H.) was fourth at 4:06.96.

Classmate Brett Clark (Merrimack, N.H.) finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 12.84 meters.

In the javelin, sophomore Mike Simon (Durham, Conn.) and junior Chris Morgan (Goffstown, N.H.) finished first and second, respectively, with throws of 61.76 and 56.96 meters.

Sophomore John Donaghy (Sutton, N.H.) won the pole vault as he cleared a height of 3.36 meters.

Senior Reed Liset (Dover, N.H.) placed second in the discus with a throw of 47.02 meters.

Freshmen Bill Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.) and Sean Mitchell (Concord, Calif.) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 400 meters with marks of 50.09 and 50.45 seconds.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 25 at 11 a.m. when they take part in the UMass Invitational at the UMass Track & Field Complex.
