WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomores Kate Early (Corning, N.Y.) and Kaitlyn Dugan (Hatfield, Pa.), and freshman Jacky Mendes (Dayton, Maine), finished second, third and fourth, respectively, at the 14-participant Holy Cross Heptathlon on Wednesday and Thursday at Hart Track.

Early, who finished with 4,464 points, finished with times of 15.50 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 27.51 seconds in the 200 meters and two minutes, 29.89 seconds in the 800 meters, as well as marks of 1.64 meters in the high jump, 10.52 meters in the shot put, 4.99 meters in the long jump and 28.74 meters in the javelin throw.

Dugan amassed 4,132 points and submitted times of 16.73 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 27.51 seconds in the 200 meters and 2:30.96 in the 800 meters. Dugan also put up marks of 1.58 meters in the high jump, 7.71 meters in the shot put, 5.59 meters in the long jump and 22.48 meters in the javelin.

Mendes, who earned 4,057 points, finished with times of 16.47 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 27.12 seconds in the 200 meters and 2:37.35 in the 800 meters, as well as marks of 1.52 meters in the high jump, 8.79 meters in the shot put, 5.12 meters in the long jump and 26.25 meters in the javelin throw.

In the 24-participant men’s decathlon, junior Anders Nordquist (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and freshman Renrick Pesce (Bristol, Conn.) placed eighth and ninth, respectively.

Nordquist amassed 5,433 points and submitted times of 12.16 seconds in the 100 meters, 53.08 seconds in the 400 meters, 19.20 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 4:44.88 in the 1500 meters. Nordquist also put up marks of 6.25 meters in the long jump, 11.40 meters in the shot put, 1.85 meters in the high jump, 29.93 meters in the discus throw, 2.95 meters in the pole vault and 35.73 meters in the javelin.

Pesce, who amassed 5,341 points, finished with times of 12.06 seconds in the 100 meters, 55.16 seconds in the 400 meters, 19.20 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 5:13.02 in the 1500 meters, as well as marks of 6.46 meters in the long jump, 11.32 meters in the shot put, 1.70 meters in the high jump, 25.10 meters in the discus throw, 3.45 meters in the pole vault and 32.11 meters in the javelin.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m. when they take on Dartmouth College at Memorial Track.
