MEN'S TRACK & FIELD EXCELS AT WILDCAT INVITE QUAD MEET

 

 
DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) and senior Reed Liset (Dover, N.H.) each recorded a pair of first-place finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track and field team at the non-scoring Wildcat Invitational I quad meet Saturday afternoon at the at Reggie F. Atkins Track and Field Facility.
 
Brehm was victorious in the 100 meters in 10.86 seconds, while senior Spencer Shaw (Hampton, N.H.) was second in 11.11 seconds. Brehm also won the 200 meters in 22.16 seconds. Shaw and sophomore Wesley Cotnoir (Auburn, N.H.) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in 22.91 and 23.46 seconds.
 
Liset finished first in the discus with a throw of 45.92 meters, ahead of classmate Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H.), who placed second at 40.63 meters. Liset also won the hammer throw with a toss of 57.72 meters. Sophomore Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.), Kaste, and sophomores Matt Powers (Harpswell, Maine) and John Randall (Boscawen, N.H.) placed second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively, with marks of 56.16, 55.05, 50.70 and 46.04 meters.
 
Sophomore Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) won the shot put with a throw of 17.21 meters. Kaste, senior Jason Martin (Manchester, N.H.) and Randall finished second, third and fourth, respectively with tosses of 15.37, 13.49 and 13.47 meters.
 
Shaw finished first in the long jump with a leap of 6.89 meters. Junior Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) was second at 6.72 meters.
 
Senior Pat Casey (South Yarmouth, Mass.) placed first in the high jump with a leap of 1.85 meters. Junior Anders Nordquist (Wolfeboro, N.H.) was second at 1.80 meters. Nordquist also finished second in the javelin with a throw of 48.63 meters.
 
Senior Bobby Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) turned in a first-place finish in the 1500 meters in a time of 3:53.91. Junior Josh Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) and senior Brent Powers (Remsen, N.Y.) placed second and third, respectively, in 4:04.20 and 4:07.30.
 
Freshman Sean Mitchell (Concord, Calif.) won the 400 meters in 49.63 seconds.
 
Sophomore Jake McDougal (Walpole, N.H.) finished first in the 800 meters in a time of 1:57.77. Senior Cale Dubay (Caribou, Maine) and junior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) placed third and fourth, respectively, in 1:59.55 and 2:01.08.
 
Senior Marc Ouellette (Hopkinton, N.H.) placed first in the 5000 meters in 15:36.86.
 
Freshman Renrick Pesce (Bristol, Conn.) submitted a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.66 seconds. Nordquist was third in 19.08 seconds.
 
Sophomore Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was also a first-place finisher, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 54.77 seconds.
 
The Wildcats’ 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay “A” teams ran to first-place finishes in times of 43.70 seconds and 3:28.68, respectively.
 
In the pole vault, senior David Dreyer (LeRoy, N.Y.) and sophomore John Donaghy (Sutton, N.H.) placed third and fourth, respectively, with marks of 4.40 and 3.65 meters.
 
Junior Brett Clark (Merrimack, N.H.) finished third in the triple jump in 12.55 seconds.
 
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m. when they host the Wildcat Invitational II at the Reggie F. Atkins Track and Field Facility.
