PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) submitted a fourth-place finish to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track & field team to a 31st-place finish at the 52-team Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) Championships on May 15-17 at Princeton University’s Weaver Track & Field Stadium.
The Wildcats finished with eight points, while America East foe the University at Albany won the meet with 68 points.
Paey placed fourth in the shot put with an NCAA Regional-qualifying throw of 17.35 meters. Senior Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H.) finished 17th with a mark of 15.50 meters.
Kaste also finished ninth in the hammer throw with an NCAA Regional-qualifying toss of 58.82 meters. Juniors Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) and Matt Powers (Harpswell, Maine) and senior Reed Liset (Dover, N.H.) placed 17th, 21st and 32nd, respectively, with marks of 56.01, 54.09 and 51.73 meters. Liset also finished 18th in the discus with a throw of 46.88 meters.
Senior Nick Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) placed seventh in the 10,000 meters in a time of 30 minutes, 33.28 seconds.
Sophomore Michael Simon (Durham, Conn.) finished eighth in the javelin with a throw of 61.12 meters.
Senior Spencer Shaw (Hampton, N.H.) placed 24th in the long jump with a leap of 6.51 meters.
In the 200 meter preliminary, junior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) finished 18th in 22.04 seconds.
Sophomore Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) placed 26th in the 400-meter hurdle preliminary in 54.50 seconds.
The Wildcats return to action at the NCAA East Regional on May 29-30 at North Carolina A&T State University’s Aggie Stadium.
