MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD PLACES SECOND AT DARTMOUTH
RESULTS

HANOVER, N.H.
– Senior Robert Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.), junior Matthew O’Connor (Rhinebeck, N.Y.), senior Matthew Begley (Brookeville, Md.) and freshman Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) all posted first-place finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track and field team to a second-place finish at the Dartmouth College outdoor meet April 17 at Memorial Track.
   
The Wildcats finished with 61 points, trailing Dartmouth (120), but leading the University of Vermont (19) and Middlebury College (7).
   
Edgerton set a school record in the 800-meters, finishing in an NCAA East Regional-qualifying time of one minute, 49.41 seconds, which was nearly two seconds faster than the runner-up. The NCAA East Regional will take place May 30-31 at Florida State University.
   
O’Connor finished first in the 1,500-meters in a time of 3:52.71. Junior Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) and sophomore Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, finishing in times of 3:55.46 and 3:57.19.
   
Begley won the pole vault by clearing a height of 4.57 meters. Junior David Dreyer (LeRoy, N.Y.) was second with a mark of 4.42 meters.
   
Paey placed first in the shot put with a throw of 16.48 meters, nearly two full meters more than the second-place finisher.
   
Sophomore Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) finished second in the 200-meters in 22.16 seconds. Brehm was also fourth in the 100-meters in 11.12 seconds.
   
Senior Travis Parker (Fairfax, Va.) placed second in the 400-meters, finishing in 49.84 seconds. Senior Ben Stein (Canton, Mass.) came in fourth in 50.49 seconds.
   
Junior Pat Casey (So. Yarmouth, Mass.) came in second in the high jump, tying for the highest leap at 1.93 meters, but needing more attempts to reach the mark. Sophomore Anders Nordquist (Wolfeboro, N.H.) placed fourth, tying for the second-highest leap at 1.88 meters, but also needing more attempts to reach the mark.
   
Junior Brent Powers (Remsden, N.Y.) placed second in the 5,000-meters, finishing in a time of 15:26.25.

Sophomore Matthew Powers (Harpswell, Maine) finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.07 meters.

In the javelin, sophomore Chris Morgan, freshman Mike Simon and junior Trevor Messineo (Concord, N.H.) placed second, third and fourth, respectively. Morgan used a toss of 59.25 meters, while Simon came in at 56.17 meters and Messineo at 55.20 meters.

The Wildcats finished second in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:19.58.

Sophomore Joe Berchtold (Londonderry, N.H.) placed third in the discus with a throw of 41.45 meters. Berchtold was also fourth in the shot put with a toss off 13.13 meters.

Sophomore Tyrone Stewart (Exeter, N.H.) was third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.38 meters.

Freshman Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) also finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 56.77 seconds.

Senior Jesse Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in a time of 9:38.53.

Junior Spencer Shaw (Hampton, N.H.) submitted a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.47 meters.   
   
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. when they host the Wildcat Invitational III at Reggie F. Atkins Track.
