– The University of New Hampshire men’s outdoor track and field team won six events Saturday at the Wildcat Invitational II at Reggie F. Atkins Track.

Junior Patrick Casey (So. Yarmouth, Mass.), last week’s America East Men’s Field Performer of the Week, placed first in the high jump with a leap of 2.00 meters.

Senior Robert Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) won the 1,500-meters, breaking the school record and qualifying for the NCAA East Regional, which will take place May 30-31 at Florida State University, by finishing in three minutes, 46.62 seconds. Sophomore Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) and junior Brent Powers (Remsden, N.Y.) placed third and fourth, respectively, in times of 3:57.60 and 3:57.90.

Senior Travis Parker (Fairfax, Va.) finished on top in the 200-meters in 22.48 seconds, while sophomore William Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) was second in 22.86 seconds.

Junior Benjamin Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) placed first in the 800-meters, finishing in a time of 1:54.98.

Junior Trevor Messineo (Concord, N.H.) won the javelin with a throw of 51.85 meters, while freshman Matthew Pelchat was second at 51.44 meters.

The Wildcats also grabbed a victory in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 3:23.32. The ‘Cats also placed second in the 4x100-meter relay in 42.49 seconds.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Matthew O’Connor (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) and senior Jordan Horwitz (Evanston, Ill.) finished second and third, respectively, in times of 9:14.02 and 9:24.55.

Senior Ben Stein (Canton, Mass.) finished third in the 400-meters in 50.67 seconds.

Freshman Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 56.95 seconds.

Junior Spencer Shaw (Hampton, N.H.) and sophomore Tyrone Stewart (Exeter, N.H.) finished third and fifth, respectively, in the long jump with leaps of 6.85 and 6.42 meters.

In the shot put, freshman Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) and sophomore Joe Berchtold (Londonderry, N.H.) placed third and sixth, respectively. Paey submitted a throw of 15.40 meters, while Berchtold posted a distance of 13.43 meters.

Brehm and Shaw finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100-meters. Brehm ran in 11.43 seconds, while Shaw was right behind at 11.69 seconds.

Stewart and sophomore Brett Clark were fourth and fifth, respectively in the triple jump with leaps of 12.17 and 11.94 meters.

Freshman Sean Donlan (Andover, Mass.) was sixth in the discus with a throw of 40.91 meters.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. when they travel north to take on intrastate rival Dartmouth College at Memorial Track.
