New Hampshire men's track finishes third at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. - The University of New Hampshire men's track team placed third in a quad-meet at Holy Cross on Tuesday, as sophomore Chad Grover (Waterville, Mass.) was lone the first-place finisher for the 'Cats taking the pole vault with a mark of 14 feet.

Rhode Island was first overall with 226 points, followed by Holy Cross with 138, UNH with 88 and Worcester State College with 26.

Senior Dan Hocking (Merrimack, N.H.) was third in the 800 meter (2:02.08), freshman Greg Benito (Bedford, N.H) took fourth in the in the 100m (11.47), freshman Greg Taylor was third in the long jump (21-03 3/4) and fourth in the triple jump (42-06), junior John Teator (West Hartford, Conn) finished third in the triple jump (42-07 1/2), freshman Robert Whitten (Farmington, Maine) was third in the pole vault (13-06), junior Andrew Thompson (Freedom, N.H.) placed fourth in the hammer throw (162-08), junior Mike Puzzo (East Hampton, Conn.) took third in the javelin (180-09) and junior Steffan Kelsey (Plymouth, N.H.) was third with a throw of 173-08.

The 4 x 100m relay team of freshman Brian Deveau (Rochester, N.H.), Matt Weisen (Glen Arbor, Mich.), Benito and Taylor took second (44.08).

The Wildcat men and women track teams will travel to Maine on Saturday for a dual-meet with the Black Bears. The 'Cats will skip the Drake Relays which are set for this weekend.
