PRINCETON, N.J. -- Jamison Whiting (Salem, N.H.) placed third in the pole vault to highlight the weekend for the University of New Hampshire men's track team at the IC4A Outdoor Championships, which were held May 18-21 at Princeton University's William Weaver Stadium.
Whiting's effort of 16 feet, 8.75 inches earned six point for the Wildcats, who finished the meet with eight points. Georgetown amassed 66 points to edge out Liberty (63 points) for the title.
Jared Burke (Salem, N.H.) cleared 15-9 to place 11th in the pole vault.
UNH's other points were produced by senior Tim Lyons (Wakefield, Maine), who finished seventh in the javelin throw with a distance of 199-2. Teammate Mike Puzzo (East Hampton, Conn.) placed 13th at 191-1. Lyons also competed in the hammer throw and his top effort of 175-6 was 16th best.
Joil Bergeron (Keene, N.H.) was 10th in the discus with a throw of 149-4. On the track, senior Kyle Schneck (Concord, N.H.) advanced to the final heat of 1,500 meters and placed 11th in 3 minutes, 51.49 seconds. Kevin Horgan (Ashburnham, Mass.) did not move into the final heat of the 1,500 with his time of 3:58.73 in the preliminaries. The Wildcat 4x800 relay team failed to move out of the preliminaries with an 8:05.11 clocking.
