INDOOR TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT IC4A AND ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON – The distance medley relay team and sophomore Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) each turned in top-five finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s indoor track and field team to a 22nd-place finish at the 50-team IC4A Championships over the weekend at Boston University.

The Wildcats totaled 11 points on the weekend, while America East-foe the University at Albany won the meet with 72.50 points.

The distance medley team of senior Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.), junior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.), freshman William Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.) and junior Josh Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) placed third in a time of nine minutes, 48.14

seconds, which set a new school record.

Paey was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 55 feet, 11.75 inches.

The UNH women’s indoor track and field team placed 29th at the 51-team ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track Center.

The Wildcats compiled 11 points, as Duke University finished first with 56 points.

Junior Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) led the way with a fifth-place finish in the pole vault, as she cleared a height of 12-5.50.

Classmate Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) placed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 55-11.

Sophomore Camille Quarles (Derry, N.H.) finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 39-3.75.

The distance medley relay team of sophomores Jennifer Racine (Haverhill, Mass.), Megan Donohue (Stratham, N.H.), Catherine Perella (Bedford, N.H.) and Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) ran to a seventh-place finish in a time of 11:57.28.

All of the above men were named All-IC4A, while all of the above women were selected as All-ECAC.

Both teams kick off the outdoor season on Saturday, March 28 at noon with a dual meet at the University of Maine’s Beckett Track and Field Complex.
