CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East conference announced Tuesday afternoon that sophomores Gabe Dano (Merrimack, N.H.) and Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.), of the University of New Hampshire men’s indoor track and field team, were named America East Track Performer of the Week and America East Field Performer of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Dec. 14.

Dano won a pair of individual events to help lead the Wildcats past Maine, 111-62, in the first meet at UNH’s newly renovated Paul Sweet Oval. Dano was first in the 55 meters with a time of 6.64 seconds and was also victorious in the 200 meters in 23.18 seconds. The Track Performer of the Week honor is Dano’s second as he also won the award Jan. 23, 2008.

Paey erased a 22-year-old school record in the shot put with an IC4A Championship-qualifying throw of 57 feet, 3.75 inches, beating Ed McCabe’s nearly 23-year-old mark of 56-10.0. The Field Performer of the Week honor is Paey’s first for the indoor season, but he also won the award April 29, 2008 during the outdoor season.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Jan. 17 when they host the College of the Holy Cross and Quinnipiac University in a tri-meet at the Paul Sweet Oval.
