DURHAM, N.H. – Head coach Jim Boulanger announced Wednesday that Mike Marshall (Salem, N.H.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of New Hampshire and join the men’s track & field team in the Fall.
“We are very excited to have Mike Marshall become a member of the UNH Wildcats,” Boulanger said. “He will compete in a variety of events for the team.
Marshall, who graduated from Salem High School on June 12, was recently named the 2009 New Hampshire Gatorade Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year. The award recognizes athletic and academic excellence and exemplary character.
Marshall finished the school year with a 3.38 grade-point average and turned in his best performances as the stakes grew higher. Marshall won the New Hampshire State Decathlon Championship last weekend to go along with his win in the 110-meter hurdles at the Class L Championships in a time of 14.82 seconds. Marshall followed that up with a victory at the New Hampshire Meet of Champions in 14.77 seconds, and also turned in a personal best of 21 feet, four inches in the long jump.
