UNH Men’s Indoor Takes 5th place at Reebok Boston Indoor Games

BOSTON - The UNH men's indoor track team placed 5th of 14 teams at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on Friday evening held at the Reggie Lewis Center at Northeastern University. The Wildcats were led by three event victories, including two Granite State athletes.

Junior Tony Truax (Dover, N.H.) started off the wins, taking the 1-mile run with a time of 4:18.55. Freshman Robert Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) won the 1000-meter in 2:29.62. Senior Tim Perry (Bethel, Conn.) placed first in the 5000-meter event in 14:49.29.

Two Wildcats added points to the UNH total in the 800-meter event. Senior William Smith (Hampstead, N.H.) took a second place finish in the event with freshman Evan Bercume (Spencer, Mass.) taking sixth.

Senior Tyler Danen (Oconomowoc, Wis.) finished third in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.98 meters. The distance medley team of Brandon Williams (Hooksett, N.H.), Travis Parker (Fairfax, Va.), Egderton and Truax placed second of 11 teams competing with a time of 10:17.31.

Freshman James Myles (Merrimack, N.H.) placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdle event, finishing in a time of 7.70 seconds.

Other notable performances by UNH athletes included Myles' sixth place finish in the long jump. Sophomore Joshua Edwards (Pelham, N.H.) and junior Erik Lundquist (Londonderry, N.H.) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the shot put event. Senior Craig Stucchi (Southborough, Mass.) finished eighth in the weight throw. Junior Robert Stiles (Southbury, Conn.) placed eighth in the 1000-meter run.

Next up for the Wildcats is the Mega Meet on February 5th at the University of Rhode Island at 3:00 p.m.
