Prizzi Finishes Second in Heat; Qualifies for Saturday's Finals at NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - Junior John Prizzi (Wyckoff, N.J.) of the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team took second place in his heat of the 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinal event on Thursday night at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.

The junior distance runner timed in at 8 minutes and 49.01 seconds to take second place in his heat. Prizzi's 8:49.01 mark was the 10th fastest in the semifinal round and fell less than two seconds short of his school-record time of 8:47.30, which he recorded at the NCAA Regional Meet on May 31st.

Prizzi will compete in the final round of the steeplechase on Saturday afternoon, June 14th at 5:57 p.m. The junior will be seeded ninth out of 12 and will compete against athletes from the University of Oklahoma, the University of Michigan, and the University of Oregon.
