DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men's indoor track & field junior Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) was named the America East Track Performer of the Week, while junior Anne Twombly (Exeter, N.H.) picked up Track Performer of the Week honors on the women's side, announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Greene helped the Wildcats to a second-place finish at University of Rhode Island Invitational on Saturday. The junior paced the field of 24 runners in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.71. That time qualifies him for the IC4A Championship and ranks as the second-best conference time this season. Coming off a pair of wins last weekend, Greene is running well as the America East Championship approaches.
Twombly helped New Hampshire to a fourth-place finish at the URI Invite over the weekend. The junior won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.29. Twombly's time qualifies her for the ECAC Championship and also ranks as the second-best America East time in that event.
Greene, Twombly and the rest of the UNH track & field team returns to action at the America East Championships on Feb. 11-12 at the Reggie Lewis Center.
