DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men's track & field freshman John Prizzi (Wycoff, N.J.) will be competing in the USATF Junior National Championships this weekend in Bloomington, Ind.
Prizzi will be competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Sunday, June 17 (4:30 p.m.) at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the campus of Indiana University. Prizzi qualified for the meet at the America East Championships after he finished fifth overall in a time of 9:10.68. The New Jersey native is currently ranked 12th in the event out of the 20 declared athletes on the entry list.
This meet will serve as a qualifier for this year's IAAF World Junior Championships. Top performers will be part of the American team that will compete in Barcelona, Spain from July 10th to July 15th.
The UNH men's and women's teams have sent qualifiers to Junior Nationals in five of the last six years. In the past, junior Rosemary Read (West Greenwich, R.I.) and sophomore Joseph Jourdain (Hudson, N.H.) have both competed at the USA Junior National meet.
