Men’s Track & Field Competes at New England Championships
BOSTON – Senior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) captured an individual title in the shot put to lead the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track & field team to an 11th _ place finish at the New England Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Wildcats finished with 24 points and finished second among America East teams in the 34-team field. Connecticut won the meet with 118.50 points.
Paey, who captured the America East title in the shot put last weekend, remained undefeated in the event this season by topping the 24-thrower field with a toss of 59-03.00.
On the track, freshman D'mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) continued to impress in his rookie campaign as he turned in a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.23.
The Wildcats were strong in the 500 meters, led by senior Sean Mitchell (Milford, Mass.), who placed third overall in a time of 1:07.72. Sophomore Steve Souza (Fall River, Mass.) placed eighth, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:05.60.
Junior Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) finished sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 58-03.00.
The Wildcats return to action on March 3-5 at the IC4A Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.
