Men’s Track & Field Fourth after Day One of AE Championship

BOSTON – Junior Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) and senior Daniel DeCrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) each posted top-three finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track & field team to a fourth-place finish after the first day of the America East Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center on Friday.

With 24 points, the Wildcats trail Binghamton (57), Albany (46.50), and Boston University (24.50), but lead Maine (16), Stony Brook (9), UMBC (8), Hartford (6) and Vermont (4).

Lyle claimed second place in the weight throw with an IC4A-qualifying toss of 57-02.25. Fellow junior George Jumpp (Manchester, N.H.) also qualified for the IC4As as he finished fourth with a throw of 56-08.80.

DeCrescenzo finished third overall in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in an IC4A-qualifying time of 14:31.27.

Freshman D'mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) finished first in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries and qualified for Saturday's finals in an IC4A-qualifying time of 8.22. McFadden also qualified for the 200 meter final as he finished 10th in the preliminaries in a time of 2.26.

In the 500 meter preliminaries, senior Sean Mitchell (Milford, Mass.) and sophomore Steve Souza (Fall River, Mass.) both qualified for Saturday's final in the event. Mitchell placed sixth in an IC4A-qualifying time of 1:05.20, while Souza took ninth at 1:05.79.

Freshman Nicholas Sullivan (Newport, N.H.) ran to a ninth-place finish in the 400 meter preliminaries and qualified for Saturday's finals with a time of 50.18.

The Wildcats' distance medley team of sophomore Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) and freshmen James Anderson (Melrose, Mass.), Dean Bhatt (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Jeffrey Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) finished fourth in an IC4A-qualifying time of 10:02.13.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday at the final day of the America East Championships at the Track & Tennis Center.
