Men's Soccer Hosts Vermont in Regular Season Finale Wednesday, Nov. 6 (7 p.m.)


DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team (11-5-0, 4-2-0 America East) looks to cap off a stellar season against the University of Vermont (9-3-4, 3-2-1 AE) Wednesday evening as the squad hosts the Catamounts for the regular season finale at 7 p.m. on Bremner Field. LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WILDCATS: New Hampshire blanked Binghamton University, 2-0, at home on Saturday, Nov. 2. Freshman Gunnar Ericsson (Atkinson, N.H.) scored his first collegiate goal in the 13th minute, which would prove to be the eventual game winner. Sophomore Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) gave New Hampshire a 2-0 cushion in the 17th minute on a penalty kick. The Wildcats outshot the Bearcats 18-8 in the match.

Freshman goalkeeper Giovani Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) earned his third shutout of the season after making saves on all three shots faced.

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: Jesus Tudela (Zaragoza, Spain) and Ugochukwu Uche (Ann Arbor, Mich.) each have nine points to lead the 'Cats on offense. Tudela has three goals and three assists while Uche has four goals and one assist. David Schlatter (Marlton, N.J.) splits his six points on two goals and two assists while Steven Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.) and Christopher Wingate (Hovik, Norway) have matching totals of one goal and three assists for five points. A.J. Albers (Eagan, Minn.) and Goerigk each have a pair of goals for four points as Robert Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.) has the same total from a goal and an assist. Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.) and Aaron Smith (Loudon, N.H.) have three points from a goal and an assist. Ericsson has two points on a goal while Byron Greenwood (Greenland, N.H.) has two points from two assists. Cameron Bielski (Dover, Mass.), Erik Martel (Bedford, N.H.), Connor Pauley (Londonderry, N.H.) and Duff Thomson (Greenfield, N.H.) round out the point totals with one assist.

Goalkeeper Travis Worra (Lancaster, Pa.) has started each of the 10 games he has played and has a record of 7-3-0 with five shutouts. He has a goals against average of 0.57 and a save percentage of .880. Riello has started all six games he has played and has tallied a record of 4-2-0 with a trio of shutouts. He has a goals against average of 0.65 and a save percentage of .810.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE CATAMOUNTS: Vermont battled Stony Brook University to a 1-0 overtime victory on the road on Saturday, Nov. 2. Scott Kisling netted the game winner in the 92nd minute of play to lift UVM over the Seawolves. Vermont goalkeeper Conor Leland made a pair of saves on each of the two shots faced for the shutout. Stony Brook held a 14-12 advantage in shots.

SCOUTING VERMONT: Brian Wright leads the Catamounts on offense with 14 points from six goals and two assists. Salvatore Borea has eight points from four goals while Charlie DeFeo has seven points on a pair of goals and three assists. Beau Johnson has six points on one goal and four assists as Bernard Yeboah has the same total on two goals and two assists.

Leland has started each of the 16 games he has played and comes in with a record of 9-3-4 with seven shutouts. He has a goals against average of 0.78 and a save percentage of .822. Ryan Bailey has seen just over five minutes of action and has not faced a shot.
