Men’s Soccer Welcomes Hartford Wildcat to Country Wednesday, Oct. 16 (7 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team (8-3-0, 2-0-0 America East) will host Hartford University (8-2-2, 1-1-0 AE) for its last home game of the month on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE 'CATS: The Wildcats recorded a 2-1 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday, Oct. 12 on Homecoming. New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute as Ugochukwu Uche (Ann Arbor, Mich.) tallied his third goal of the season. In the second half, the Seawolves leveled the score at 1-1 when Keith McKenna found the back of the net. Steven Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.) gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in the 71st minute with a header goal, ultimately helping New Hampshire to the win.

Goalkeeper Travis Worra (Lancaster, Pa.) made seven saves on eight shots faced in the game as he earned his sixth win of the season.

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: Sophomore Jesus Tudela (Zaragoza, Spain) leads the Wildcats on offense with nine points stemming from three goals and three assists. Uche is next with six points on three goals. Steven Palumbo has recorded five points on a goal and three assists while Christopher Wingate (Hovik, Norway) has one goal and two assists for four points. Aaron Smith (Loudon, N.H.) splits his three points on a goal and an assist. A.J. Albers (Eagan, Minn.), Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.) and Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) each have one goal for two points. Robert Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.) also has two points stemming from a goal. Eric Martel (Bedford, N.H.), Byron Greenwood (Greenland, N.H.) and David Schlatter (Marlton, N.J.) each have one assist.

Junior goalkeeper Travis Worra (Lancaster, Pa.) has started each of the seven games played and has a 6-1-0 record with four shutouts. He currently leads the nation in goals against average (0.41) and in save percentage (.912). Freshman goalie Giovani Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has started each of the four games he has played and has a record of 2-2-0 with two shutouts. He has a 0.75 goals against average and a .769 save percentage.

LAST TIME OUT FOR HARTFORD: The Hawks battled to a 3-2 overtime win against Vermont at home on Saturday, Oct. 12. Vermont took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, but Hartford answered with a pair of goals to close out the half. Damion Lowe recorded the first goal in the 38th minute as Anthony Santaga notched the second in the 44th minute. Vermont came back to tie the game in the 67th minute of the game and ultimately send it to overtime. Just under three minutes into the first overtime period, Javoni Simms scored to give the Hawks the 3-2 win. David MacKinnon made one save on three shots to earn the win.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Simms leads Hartford on offense as he has 11 points on five goals and one assist. Lowe is behind him with nine points on four goals and one assist. Santaga, David Bernhardsson and Jeff Tryon each have seven points from a pair of goals and three assists. Omar Tall and Rohan Roye both have four points on four assists.

MacKinnon has started 10 of the 11 games he has played and has a record of 7-2-1 and five shutouts. He has a goals against average of 0.71 and a save percentage of .778. Vitsu Tuumi has started each of his two games played and has a record of 1-0-1 with one shutout. He has a 0.67 goals against average and a .889 save percentage.

UP NEXT FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Wildcats are back on the pitch Saturday, Oct. 19 as the squad travels to UMBC for a night tilt. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
