CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Steven Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.), a freshman midfielder on the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team, was honored as the America East Rookie of the Week by the conference Monday afternoon.

Palumbo earns the honor after tallying a goal and an assist to lead UNH to a 2-1 win over Boston University in double-overtime on Saturday, handing the Terriers their first conference loss of the season. He scored the game-winning goal, ending a deadlocked tie in the 109th minute, giving the 'Cats their first win in six games and their first in conference play.

He also tallied an assist on New Hampshire's first goal of the contest, setting up Brad Hilton (Merrimack, N.H.) with the score, putting the Wildcats up 1-0 at 49:11. Palumbo's goal is his second game-winner this season, notching his first of the season against Central Connecticut State (Sept. 6). The freshman has played in all 14 games, ranking second on the team with six points on two goals and two assists.

Palumbo and the Wildcats return to action Wednesday, October 27, when they take on Albany on Senior Day at 2:30 p.m. at Lewis Fields.
