New Hampshire men's soccer announces spring schedule

DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire men's soccer coach Rob Thompson announced Wednesday the Wildcats' spring exhibition schedule that includes five dates at Bremner Field, the UNH athletic department's new AstroPlay synthetic grass facility located behind the Field House.

The men's soccer team was an America East semifinalist with a 10-5-2 overall mark last fall and return 9 of 11 starters for the 2003 campaign.

Included on the schedule are Division I rivals Maine and Rhode Island, Division II national runner-up Southern New Hampshire University, Northeast-10 finalist UMass Lowell and perennial Division III power Wheaton College. The Wildcats will also face the New Hampshire Phantoms on March 29. The entire spring schedule will be played at home this season. Admission to all games is free.

Along with the schedule, Thompson is also pleased to announce that the soccer program will be sponsoring a book drive at each of the soccer games to support disadvantaged families and children of Strafford County Head Start. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped children's books to be collected at the gate.
