DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire senior Ryan DiNunzio (Kenmore, N.Y.) was named to the America East All-Championship Team in men’s soccer, announced today.
DiNunzio, a 6-0 midfielder, recorded three goals and one assist for seven points this season and finished his UNH career with 3-4-10 totals. DiNunzio scored his first goal against Hartford Oct. 21 late in regulation to lead UNH to a 3-2 victory. He also scored the tying and game-winning goals minutes apart during a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory against Drexel Nov. 2 that helped UNH clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 1994.
UNH (7-8-3, 5-4-2) qualified as the No. 6 seed and lost to eventual America East champion Towson University, 2-0 in the first round of the conference tournament. Towson defeated Northeastern, 1-0 in the America East championship Nov. 17.
DiNunzio was joined on the All-Championship Team by Hughory Daley (Hofstra); Alon Lubezsky and Asaf Lubezsky (Hartford); Andrew Dorman and Joachim Kaland (Boston University); Pheonetip Ketnouvong, Anders Hoyem and Allan Lewis (Northeastern) and Alfonso DeMares, Steve Hoeck and Randy Tolson (Towson). Goalkeeper Chris Hurley of Towson was voted the tournamentís Most Outstanding Player.
